Dennerle Catappa Bark 10 Pieces

The leaves and bark of catappa trees have been regularly used in freshwater tanks in Asian countries for many years. Bacterial illnesses are alleviated with catappa bark, and fish that suffer from injuries such as bites or transportation wounds heal faster with this bark. The bark releases humic acid and tannin, which benefits many species including shrimp, crawdads, bettas, discus, and Plecostomus. The effect of catappa bark is comparable to that of catappa leaves, but far more potent. It fortifies the mucous membranes of fish, making it tough for harmful bacteria to get past this natural shield. Catappa bark also encourages the mating disposition of your fish and shrimp, while decreasing fungal infections of spawn. The compounds in the bark even hinder the growth of blue algae (cyanobacteria). Amazingly, the filtering bacteria is not diminished when you use catappa bark.

Adding a small piece of cattapa bark is helpful when putting fish and shrimp in a bag for transport. This will decrease stress and susceptibility to disease which the animals experience from the high concentrations of bacteria. Similarly, cattapa bark relieves stress to your shrimp and fish when conducting water changes.

Usage: Put a piece of bark directly into your aquarium. One piece of catappa bark is adequate for approximately 25 gallons (100 liters) of water. The bark will soon sink to the bottom of the aquarium. If you want a rapid disposal of the active ingredients, infuse the catappa bark swiftly in hot water. Ordinarily, the active agents in catappa bark are released to the water over the course of 3 weeks. After that, you may add a new piece to your aquarium. You can either throw out the old piece of bark or leave it in the tank as supplementary feed or hideaway for your shrimp. If you are also adding catappa leaves, please consider this when determining the dosage. Catappa bark can be stored for an indefinite period of time if kept dry. Since this is a totally natural product, variations in form, color, and size may occur.
