I've had an old Eheim 2213 on a 30 gallon tall tank, and I was just having a lot of trouble with black bears algae and cyanobacteria that I couldn't beat. Decided to up the filtration, and though I considered a bigger Eheim model, I liked some of the features that Fluval offers these days. I wasn't willing to take a chance on some of the newer or fancier brands just to save a few bucks up front. So far, it's been great. It was easy enough to set up, easy to prime, and it's been running nonstop ever since (about two months). The aquarium is much cleaner between water changes. The flow isn't as turbulent as I had feared, so my tiny tetras and corydoras are fine with it. I'm going to do the first maintenance check on the filter soon, but all in all, I'm quite happy with this unit. The Eheim it replaces has given me 12+ years of nearly flawless operation (and still going), and I hope the Fluval delivers the same reliable performance. Delivery from supercichlids was right on time, in the middle of a pandemic. So I'm satisfied all around.
So far, so good.
