Reach internal infections that won't respond to anything else.
Dropsy, popeye, and fin rot are frightening — and when a fish stops eating, food-based cures can't get through.
Seachem KanaPlex is a kanamycin-based medication that's absorbed by the fish, so it treats internal bacterial and fungal infections even when food is refused. It won't harm the biological filter and is easily removed with carbon. For freshwater or marine aquaria.
KanaPlex is built on the science-driven chemistry Seachem has practiced since it was founded in 1979 in Madison, Georgia. As a company whose products are developed and manufactured in-house by chemists and backed by research, Seachem formulated KanaPlex to be absorbed by the fish while remaining filter-safe — it won't harm your biological filtration — and easily removed with activated carbon once treatment is complete.
- Remove invertebrates; turn off UV/ozone and remove carbon and Purigen.
- Dose 1 measure per 20 L (5 gallons) every 48 hours, up to 3 doses.
- Or mix into food with Focus to target internal infections.
Hit the infection where it hides. Add to cart.
Why Seachem KanaPlex
- Absorbed by the fish to treat internal infections: reaches internal bacterial and fungal disease even when a sick fish refuses to eat.
- Filter-safe: won't harm the beneficial bacteria in your biological filtration during treatment.
- Easily removed with carbon: lift residual medication with activated carbon (MatrixCarbon) after treating; it does not linger in substrate or media.
- Seachem-grade kanamycin chemistry: a concentrated, research-backed kanamycin sulfate formula that can be dosed in water or bound into food with Focus.
Best For
Use KanaPlex in freshwater or marine aquaria to treat internal and external bacterial and fungal diseases including dropsy, popeye, fin/tail rot, hemorrhagic septicemia, cloudy eye, and mouth rot. Because it is absorbed by the fish, it is especially valuable when a fish has stopped eating. Remove invertebrates before dosing in water. For targeted internal infections, mix it into food with Focus.
What It Treats
Bacterial and fungal diseases including dropsy, popeye, fin/tail rot, hemorrhagic septicemia, cloudy eye, and mouth rot.
Directions
Dosing in water: Remove all invertebrates. Turn off UV and ozone filters and remove chemical filtration (MatrixCarbon, Purigen). Use 1 measure (included) per every 20 L (5 gallons). Repeat every 48 hours to a maximum of 3 doses. In severe cases, two back-to-back rounds are possible only if fish show no stress after the first.
Dosing in food (mix and feed daily until the infection clears, up to 1 week): 1 scoop KanaPlex + 1 scoop Focus + 1 tbsp food (pellets or frozen) + a few drops of water if using dry food. Use with GarlicGuard to enhance palatability.
After treating: Remove with activated carbon (MatrixCarbon). It does not linger in substrate or media.
Active Ingredients
Kanamycin sulfate (32%). Inactive ingredients: excipients (68%).
Available Sizes
5 g, 100 g
FAQ
Is KanaPlex safe for invertebrates? No — remove all invertebrates before dosing in water. Also turn off UV and ozone filters and remove chemical filtration while treating.
How do I remove KanaPlex after treatment? Run activated carbon (MatrixCarbon) in your filter once the course is complete. It does not linger in substrate or media.
Can I use KanaPlex in food? Yes. Mix 1 scoop KanaPlex + 1 scoop Focus + 1 tbsp food (with a few drops of water for dry food) and feed daily until the infection clears, up to 1 week. GarlicGuard can improve palatability.
