Restore Alkalinity Fast for Stronger Coral Growth

When alkalinity crashes, calcareous corals lose the carbonate they need to build skeleton, and your reef's growth stalls out.

Reef Fusion 2 is the second half of Seachem's two-part reef system, a specialized mixture of carbonates and bicarbonates with an alkalinity of 4400 meq/L. It quickly and safely restores and maintains alkalinity, giving corals and other calcareous species the carbonate levels needed for noticeable growth — all through an easy 1:1 ratio with Reef Fusion 1.

Reef Fusion 2 is made by Seachem Laboratories, a science-driven chemistry company founded in 1979 in Madison, Georgia, where formulas are developed in-house by chemists. That expertise is what lets Reef Fusion 2 restore carbonate alkalinity quickly and safely rather than shocking the tank, and it is why the product is built to work as the alkalinity half of Seachem's coordinated reef system — dosed in step with Reef Fusion 1 to keep calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and trace elements in balance together.

  1. Shake well, then add 1 mL per 25 L (6.5 US gallons) to a high-flow area near a powerhead.
  2. Add Reef Fusion 2 to the opposite side of the tank from Reef Fusion 1, never mixing the two directly.
  3. Dose every 1-2 days, keeping alkalinity at 3-6 meq/L and calcium at 380-420 mg/L.

Keep your reef in balance. Add to cart.

Why Seachem Reef Fusion 2

  • Supplies the alkalinity half of a two-part system: a specialized blend of carbonates and bicarbonates that restores and maintains the carbonate alkalinity calcifying corals depend on.
  • High-strength formula: an alkalinity of 4400 meq/L means small doses can quickly and safely correct and hold alkalinity in the reef.
  • Pairs 1:1 with Reef Fusion 1: designed to be dosed in equal amounts with its calcium counterpart, added at opposite locations and never mixed directly.
  • Bioavailable carbonate source: delivers carbonates and bicarbonates in a form calcareous species can readily use to build skeleton.

Best For

Reef aquariums keeping SPS and LPS stony corals, clams, and coralline algae, where stable carbonate alkalinity is critical for skeletal growth and where it is dosed alongside Reef Fusion 1 to balance calcium.

FAQ

Which Reef Fusion do I pair this with? Reef Fusion 2 is dosed alongside Reef Fusion 1 in a simple 1:1 ratio, added a few minutes apart at opposite sides of the tank. Never mix the two formulas directly.

How do I know how much to dose? Test your water and keep alkalinity between 3-6 meq/L and calcium around 380-420 mg/L. Start at 1 mL per 25 L (6.5 US gallons) every 1-2 days and adjust to your test results, never exceeding 4 mL/25 L per day.

Is it reef-safe? Yes. Reef Fusion 2 supplies carbonate alkalinity in a form built for coral and invertebrate systems and is part of Seachem's coordinated reef program.

What It Does

Contains a specialized mixture of carbonates and bicarbonates with an alkalinity of 4400 meq/L, designed to quickly and safely restore and maintain alkalinity in the reef aquarium. It helps provide calcareous species such as corals with the essential carbonate levels needed for noticeable growth. Uses an easy to measure 1:1 ratio with Seachem Reef Fusion 1.

Directions

The formula can be dosed in the aquarium every 1-2 days. Shake well before using. Add 1 mL of Reef Fusion 1 per 25 L (6.5 US gallons) of aquarium water. The cap of the bottle holds 5 mL. Add the mixture to a high flow area of the tank such as near a powerhead for increased current. Wait a few minutes and then add Reef Fusion 2 following the same procedure, 1 mL per 25 L (6.5 US gallons) and shake well. It is recommended that the two formulas be carefully added to opposite locations in the aquarium. This dose contributes 4 mg/L of calcium, and 0.176 meq/L of alkalinity. Never mix Reef Fusion 1 with Reef Fusion 2 directly. Calcium levels should be maintained around 380-420 mg/L and alkalinity between 3-6 meq/L. The size and the frequency of these dosages can be increased if the dosing schedule has been unable to properly maintain calcium and alkalinity in these ranges. Be careful not to exceed 4 mL/25 L (6.5 US gallons) per day.
